Ibuki

Enjoy the warmth of sukiyaki in the heart of Shinjuku.

In 1950, amidst the chaos of the postwar period, we opened our doors with the hope that people would enjoy our delicious sukiyaki without feeling self-conscious about it. For more than 70 years, we have been supported by many customers in the back alleys of Shinjuku's West Exit, and because we are a small restaurant with only about 20 seats, we take pride in our ability to warmly welcome each and every one of our customers. The sukiyaki, which is Japanese black beef cooked in a secret sauce, will make you feel nostalgic, even if you stop by during your travels.

A dish of Kuroge Wagyu beef and secret sauce

Food

We do not add anything extra and put everything into our Wagyu beef and Warishita. The meat is Japanese black Wagyu sirloin that the owner purchases directly from the store. The aroma of the sweet and spicy sauce rises with the sound of the meat being grilled to perfection. The moment you dip the meat into the egg, its melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich flavor will fill your mouth. Vegetables also absorb the flavor of the meat, and you will be satisfied until the last bite. The dish is made without spices, making it easy to eat for everyone.

Ibukiの店内雰囲気

At our restaurant, you can fully enjoy the realistic experience of sukiyaki being finished right in front of your eyes. The aroma and sound of each pot being carefully cooked are also an important part of the dish's charm. The warmth of the wood and the friendly interaction between the proprietress and the staff in the 20-seat space will make you feel at home without feeling self-conscious. All seats are non-smoking, and photography is welcome. Although we do not have private rooms or private dining rooms, the smiles and conversations among customers naturally spread, creating a warm atmosphere throughout the restaurant.

Taste and spirit passed down for more than 70 years

The company was founded in 1950. The founder's simple wish was to "make people happy with sukiyaki. Even in hard times, he continued to devise ways to fill everyone's stomachs, and kept the sweet and spicy Warishita sauce alive. The taste has been passed down to the second generation, and the restaurant has continued to grow along with the city of Shinjuku. The city may have changed dramatically, but the aroma of simmering food in a pot and the smiling faces around the dining table remain the same. We will continue to protect the curtain so that we can pass on the "Japanese sukiyaki culture" to our customers from home and abroad.
